CHURCH51 (THE PONCE DE LEON CORRIDOR)
About the Family
My wife, Robin, is a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. She loves people and has recently made the switch from hikes in the Northwest mountains to walks on the Atlanta Beltline. Robin and I have been missionaries in SE Asia as well as church planters/leaders in Atlanta and Seattle.
Our son, Jeremiah, lives and works in Decatur and is very active in the forming of this new faith community. Jeremiah is a natural leader and coaches local youth soccer with FCA. Our daughter, Sarah, is a sophomore in the engineering program at Berry College. She is learning to mountain bike and loves to discover new music and artists. The last member of our family is Gryffin, a golden retriever that has never met a stranger.
All of us have planted ourselves in the city and are pursuing the life God created us to live with other people. We’re forming a community where others might see the heart of God. We live in the Ponce City Market, Atlanta’s largest “reuse, live-work-shop” project.
About the Church Plant
Church51 seeks to change the conversation about what church is and what it looks like to be human and to follow Jesus. While our culture teaches us to consume more in order to have more life, we hear Jesus saying that we actually experience more life when we give more than we take, even if it is a little (like 51 percent).
Church51 is forming and meeting in groups called missional communities (MCs). MCs are intentional about community, change and cause—or you might say relationships, transformation and mission. Church51 will begin weekly public worship gatherings when there are four or five healthy MCs meeting in the city.
